Ex N.E.R. 4-4-0 Class D20 62396 at Alnmouth on the day it was withdrawn. Originally it was an Alnmouth locomotive and was dispatched to Hull Botanic Gardens, but never arrived - the loco only got as far as Borough Gardens MPD (Gateshead) and was stored there for a considerable time then sent back to Alnmouth then to Selby in 1955. It did actually get to Hull (Dairycoats), but only to be stored, yet again. However, due to a shortage of locomotives in the Summer of 1957, it was reinstated and the authorities deeming it was in need of a lick of paint, received the second B.R. totem on the tender as a result - one of only two of the Class to do so! After its season in the sun, it went home to Alnmouth. 19th November 1957
